To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hey folks,
I am a man without a home. Souless and wandering since the destruction of my universe on december 15th 2011. Yes, I am an SWG refugee.
Though I loved the game for many reasons it was jump to lightspeed which I was really passionate about. about once a month or so I take a long look at the joystick sitting on the shelf and get nostalgic. I look for posts about SWG in forums and game news. Keep hoping for some sign of a rebirth but of course am disapointed. I am trying to get over the loss and move forward but it is difficult.
Anyway... so I am looking for a new love. A space sim where I can use that joystick again. A game where I can modify my ship in real and meaningful ways, do unconventional builds and make things very different if I so desire. A game with real player crafting that matters. Dare I say it... player housing/bases? A game with spaceship PVP!
Yeah I know that sounds like EVE right? I guess it kinda does but EVE just doesnt grab me. I mean its cool and an amazing game in its own right but its just not for me. Maybe its the control scheme. In EVE you feel like you are the captain issuing commands and I want to be the pilot. I want to have my hands on the controls. In Jump to lightspeed if I was in a dogfight and the other guy shot at me, if I didnt want to get hit I had to get the hell out of the way! I loved that.
So here I am searching the web for the next thing and I found this site. Forums, lists, games, downloads, videos... I think maybe I have a hope of finding that game <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> So thank you for putting this together and I am going to go look at some content.
Welcome tarnacc!
It's great to see someone else who loved the JTL expansion. I agree with you,it was one of the best parts of SWG, and worked brilliantly as a space sim in its own right. I also loved the way you could really use your ship as a realistic transport method - just wander into the spaceport, launch, travel to other systems, etc. I tried SWTOR but the "combat space game on rails" was a real disappointment in comparison. I definitely think the JTL stuff in SWG didn't get the attention it deserved.

You look good through a crosshair.
Welcome Tarnacc
Have you tried looking at this: http://www.swgemu.com/forums/index.php
SSC is always trying to gather info on all games, and sometimes I do a good job at getting it all documented. I need some time to sift through the forums and update my game listing because it is lacking in places. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> But there is a lot of games coming out all the time and i am sure you can find something that interests you.

Yeah I was a total JTL fan. Did you play the last couple months? I am sure you have heard that they released a TON of space content in the final days. It was like they had a bucket list and were going through it. Atmospheric flight!!
Darkone... Yes I have looked in to and have been following the EMU for a long time. I even have it installed on one of my machines but have not played it in a long time. I really need JTL. There are rumers of seeing it in the EMU but frankly I dont see that happening for a long long time.
Welcome to the forum Tarnacc
Lot games in development so might find some thing you like.
