To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi everyone! NobleSix here! And yes, my name is a reference to Halo: Reach. And yes, I am a die-hard Halo fan. If you want we can chat lore/game/whatever about Halo. Because that's what cool people do.
Obviously.
All right. Anyway....
I don't really know what to say. I'm just obsessed with space - space games in particular really interest me. Shooting things and flying around in space is definitely cool, but it's even cooler when you're playing in a universe with its own economy and political disputes going on - then it's a whole 'nother world (literally 😛 )! I'm hoping for one day a game will come out with the open-world quality of Skyrim and the universe of a cross between Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo, and whatever other cool space universes exist that I'm not thinking of right now. *heavy breathing*
So yeah. I found this site while googling for good space sim games to play and immediately fell in love. A whole community of space-sim gamers?! It's like my life is complete! Anyway, so yeah. I hope I can be friends with you people and stuff and we can have a good time together....that didn't sound cheesy, did it? 🙂
Hold on! Wait! I feel like I should add this:
In terms of gaming, RPG's are most definitely top favorite for me. Especially medieval fantasy (like TES) and space-related ones. Immersive gaming is also a big thing for me and I'm always on the lookout for other universes to explore! I also like FPS games although I'm not much of a COD person. Once again, more of the futuristic style like Halo and Planetside II. Unfortunately I'm super poor so not very much of my money ever goes towards gaming. But what I can spare usually does!
Welcome to the forum Nobelsix
Can't say I have played much of the Halo series of games only a bit of the first and second ones, did notice the other day that there is a new film out, looks like another fan made one that been give a DVD release.
Really? Hm I guess I haven't heard of it. I'll have to go check it out sometime.
Hey NobleSix
First off welcome to the site you will be in good company here.
I am playing Skyrim right now actually (yup for the first time) and 'if' developers could ever do a skyrim in space it would definitely be an instant buy for me.
Right now there really isn't any games out that would be on that level. Precursors and Parkan II tried to hit on this but I think SW:KOTOR games came closest with the planet side stuff they just need some good space elements and I would probably still be playing it. When I first heard about destiny I thought it was going to be RPG in nature but they ruined it for me and its just a glorified FPS and that really doesn't interest me. Starpoint Gemini 2 hits on open world rpg piece pretty well but you are always in space in this one and never on a planet.
No Man's Sky probably comes closest so far to a vision of a open world rpg but we'll see on that one.

Welcome, and thanks for the intro. I've also been a halo fan for awhile, all the way back to the halo 1 days on the original xbox. System link, the whole 9 yards. The last level in halo 1 was one of the more memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. Halo 2 was also great fun, especially over the net. My brother and I had some great big team battle sessions.
Around halo 3, my interest sort of dropped off. However, halo is no doubt one of the greatest franchises ever. I think it's helpful to consider the series in terms of the marathon games, back in the nineties.
