To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Federation 2 is a modern remake of the classic 1980s MUD (multi-user dungeon), Federation, which was originally on early online services, such as GEnie and AOL. It's completely free to download and play, and it only takes up a few MB. It may not be the most action-packed sci-fi MMO out there, or the most graphically superior (since it's text based), but it's certainly fun and it's got a fairly large and friendly community of players, who are always willing to help out new players. If you're looking for a fun game to play on a low-end system, or simply looking for a game with nostalgia value, then I recommend Federation 2. You can download the game here: http://ibgames.net/fed2/
This game has been around since 1986 and I have never tried it. But I did add this to the game list, thanks Solace.
Anytime. Another one you may want to check out is Beyond the Red Line, it's a standalone total conversion of FreeSpace 2. It's been in development for a few years, I think the team disbanded and gave up on the project, but the demo is still on their site: http://www.beyondtheredline.net/demo.html
Know about that one, but haven't linked to it because it is just a demo and the development on it has stalled. It has been in this limbo state for a while now. And it is hard to find any info on actual development on the project. But it still is promising. You might want to look into this one: http://www.diaspora-game.com/index.html
I know about Diaspora too, but sadly they don't even have a demo or beta up.
True but it is still a work-in-progress and it is under development. There is some videos on this game on youtube.
I know, I saw the trailer a while back, looks pretty epic.
