To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Before we get into the meat of discussion regarding this title, lets all go back to when we were kids. Back when you looked into that big, blue, bucket of legos, and tried to think up something creative. Something that just stopped you and made you smile as you thought about that spaceship, or farm.
Thats the idea (IMHO) behind Minecraft. You start with your barehands, and a random world. Each new playthrough spawns a world that is roughly 8x the size of earth. (I could be wrong on that statistic, I read it on the forums.) Its up to you to enjoy the day, and ...live through the night.
In a nutshell, the game is about survival, and then, creativity. At night... things start to appear, so be sure to build a shelter! Here's a gameplay video/trailer.
The beauty of this game, is building your house, forging a sword, creating a mineshaft with working minecarts, growing things in a farm, and surviving the night. The game is $10 right now, until the alpha/beta/ is finished, then it will be $20.
Im not trying to advertise the game, as much as introduce you fine people to it. Because, as of the last two weeks, I havn't touched another video game. Head to the forums, and check out what people have made (life sized cities. O_O. A massive homer simpson. An entire forest with a castle in the middle. A floating island) You are only limited by your imagination. And daytime.
So, I heartily encourage you fellows to try the boring classic mode (You start with all the materials) and then buy the real thing. (I am currently mining for gold and diamonds. You have to go DEEP.) Its alot of fun, kind of like a survival lego type thing. Try it out, see if you like! 😎
Sorry to sound like a fanboy, but its ALOT of fun. (I fell to my death the other day, LOST EVERythING. Then, I accidentally set my house on fire. 🙁 Which was all forgotten when I crafted my golden armor.)
Wow, that was a run of bad luck and no mistake IronHound, glad you got your armour at lest. I created a Star Trek (original series) outfit for my guy in the game. Engineer (red) of course. 🙂 Uh oh, just remembered it was always the red shirts that bought it in every episode 😕 Maybe I should change it to a blue one 😆
LOL!
I know, I just get the worst luck some days. Then again, I learned to never play with fire. 😐
I saw some of those skins! A bunch on the forums. Didn't see any star-trek ones, and I think the red-shirt is a nice touch, even though they died every episode, they always had more, just like minecraft, you can always respawn!
Good point Ironhound. They always had an endless supply of dupes to wear the cursed red shirt 😆
I never uploaded my player skin, maybe I should. Might create more too, blue science officer next if I do 🙂
Hehe! Thats a good idea! I'd use it if nobody else does.
Ok Ironhound I have uploaded it to here http://www.minecraftskins.com/ look out for ST Engineer_char and if you get done in by either unconvincing monsters or aliens, I cannot accept any responsibility. You have been warned! 😆
He looks like he's going to die in some horrific transporter accident 🙂
Oh, he has done many many times! 😆
LOL! This is great, awesome job!
It took me a bit to find out how to use the skin, and then.. then I found a skin of malcom reynolds. Decisions.
🙁
