To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Atmospheres?

Hi I was thinking that I was having a bit of problem landing on planets and I saw what was the problem...I was under the assumption that atmospheres will slow down my speed due to drag and before i could notice I would crash, I really dont crash that much but involuntarily I tend to think that my ship would slow down a bit lol.

My question is, could it be implemented the dragg that atmospheres cause on the ship?? (i dont think it would be that hard program wise, i may be wrong here)

Also could clouds be implemented in the future?? (very useful to measure altitude lol) it doesnt have to be pretty 🙂

thank you

There is atmospheric drag, but it isn't very effective.

Try on Venus.

atmospheric drag is very interesting going into venus just before youre ship heats up and explodes in a ball of flame
