To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi

Just to say I was carrying a package to deliver at Enki Catena at moon Ganymede by Jupiter. Set to auto dock only to find there's no space port and subsequently crash landed & blew up.

Does anyboby else know about this?

This is my first post by the way.

Hi RoberiusAD62, welcome to Pioneer.

Strange one that as i can guarantee you that enki catena does exist and it is perfectly landable.

have you been able to repeat the problem? i.e. start a new game and have the same thing happen?

could you confirm which alpha release you using and with which ship you crashed in etc

Enki Catena has been a problem due to the extreme terrain. It's often covered by the ground. I managed to land there once in a previous version, but I landed on the ground and sustained damage, then sunk through the ground to the pad. I suppose it varies depending on the version of the ground station that you find there. The stations are pseudo-randomly generated so the ones you find are dependent on which version of Pioneer you are using and the add-ons you have installed. I just generally avoid the place. There is some talk about flattening the areas around the ground stations to avoid problems like this. Welcome to the alpha versions of Pioneer! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Hi Metamartian

A strange one this. I did what you suggested. Started a new game, at Earth & headed straight to Enki Catena. This time I did land, but the star port is half buried as described by Marcel. I would suggest the developers to adjust the parameters to raise the level of the starport platform to ensure a safer landing.

Space Pilots Association (SPA) has issued a statement to its members.

"It is reported that the Bay 1 of Enki Catena are partially blocked by a landslide.

Although it is possible landing, it is to costly damage to the ship.

Avoid this fate, or land manually on platform 2.

The repair work is in progress."

Thank you for your attention. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//crazy_pilot.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':crazypilot:' />

One thing that you could do is install potsmoke66's sport outdoor station, then put a seed value in the Enki Cantina station to make sure one appears there. I don't know what number to use because it varies depending upon how many stations you have installed. You'd have to experiment. His landing pads are higher up than the standard pads.

Or just adjust the station's position. Its not like we actually have the crater feature of the real Enki Catena.

I remember this being discussed before, but nobody suggested something as simple as that! So, assuming the terrain is generated the same on all OS versions, all we need is a new official location? I'll fiddle around with it for my next hometowns add-on.
