To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Ok so only had Pioneer on Linux Mint for 3 days, loving it so far, the only trouble I've had so far is I can't seem to figure out how to hyperdrive to another system. I'm sure this will be resolved by the first answer and it's simply me being noobish XD

Use the sector map (F2) to select a system in range. While in flight, click hyperspace (F7) to jump.

There's more detail in Quickstart.txt.

You need to select a destination star system in the "sector view screen" (F2, or the button 2nd from the left), one that is within range of your hyperdrive distance, and that you have enough fuel to reach.

Then you need to take off, and whilst flying along press the hyperspace button (F7, or 2nd from the right) once it's activated. You should probably need to get into space but we haven't put that restriction in place yet so it will even work in atmosphere last time I tried it 😀

Ok I misread first off so I went back to it, I tried going back to the front camera view, out in space in the Sol System. Tried pressing F7 (again after selecting Proxima) but nothing happened, there is no symbol in the F7 slot either. I'm full up on fuel and have the.. class 4 hyperdrive I think.

You have the correct fuel for the type of hyperdrive? You need hydrogen for the regular, heavier, hyperdrives or military fuel for the military drives.

You only need water/H2O for the in system thrusters.

If there's no icon in the F7 slot then it doesn't think that you have anything selected as a destination.

Go into the sector view F2, move the view over Proxima and don't move off it in that view, then return to the regular view (F1) and try it again.

I just had a quick look around YouTube and there are a few videos but nothing really up to date showing how all this works sadly :/

Cool, let us know how it goes and let us know if there's anything that is good/bad/really-really-confusing etc 🙂

can we ask this guy to do a pioneer let's play? he seems to love games like this. I really love his Kerbal space program vids and he takes requests.

also, to the OP, I was in the exact same place as you. it lasts a couple of weeks, until i got the hang of just going to different places. And, I'm always learning new things here on the forum.
