To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hello, Pioneer peoples. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
My gods: this is an alpha release? This is a magnificent piece of work. Granted I've only been playing a couple of hours, but so far the only bug I've run into is cosmetic (you can see through my Asp when you look at it from the top); and the list of massively impressive things is... well, massive.
A few points I think deserve special congrats: the planet surface modelling is just beautiful. I've just done an autopilot approach to Tranquility Base from Saturn. I missed my delivery deadline by two days, but it was entirely worth it just to watch the lunar surface roll by beneath me, with the sunlight illuminating crater slopes and casting shadows as I sailed over to the day side.
The ship models and textures are stunning.
The autopilot is intelligent! I was very careful to make sure I didn't challenge it too much - straight lines and clear routes, painfully learned in FFE. But no: when I inevitably screwed it up and tried to fly at the Moon from the far side of the Earth... the autopilot went around.
The bulletin board is fantastic: it already feels busy and bountiful with a good selection of jobs for the taking - although I'm noticing quite a large number of kill missions, but I guess I can put that down to a slightly different social morality so far in the future.. <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//spiteful.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spiteful:' /> I particularly like the idea of local courier missions.
Also, I love the musical arrangements.
There's plenty of other stuff I could praise but you get the idea, I'm sure.
I haven't had to fight anything yet, although I've run into one tiny problem I couldn't work out an answer to: I targeted a Lynx hauler as I went past... and I couldn't de-select it again. I spent the next half hour flying all around the Sol system with my systems locked on that poor freighter. I tried clicking on something else; tried pressing T again; couldn't work out how to clear the target. Is there a way to clear a selected target?
Thank you all for all the hard work you're putting into this. At alpha 26 I think it's already looking extremely impressive, and I can't wait to see what future development is going to bring. I'd love to contribute but I have no real skills I could offer: I can't program, and I'm no artist - 3D modelling or otherwise. If you need someone to write something, or be a terrible stickler over spelling, grammar or punctuation then let me know, by all means - otherwise keep up the great work. <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//clapping.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':clapping:' />
Your appreciation is appreciated!
I completely agree! I discovered Pioneer only few days ago and its terrific! Great job! I always liked Elite II: Frontier and this is it! And improved in lot of things! So thank you very much, people! Once I'm less busy I'll try to look at the source code and maybe I would be able to help a bit with the development.
Wow! I wanted to propose you to consider implementing atmospheric braking and friction and and it seems its already there! This is amazing! Thank you, Pioneer is simply great!
