To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Here's the sound of two Les Paul's
And here's the sound of Barry Melton's SG again...
John Paul Jones plays a familiar tune....
Listened to the John Paul Jones track a few days ago.
Eric Clapton demonstrating various guitar tones on a Gibson SG.
Heard this when I was out this morning.
Robby Krieger, famous Gibson SG user.

Something spacey
Today is the 88th day of the year, which means it's Piano Day, so...
Eight is such a nice number!
Good excuse for a bit of boogie woogie
American Beauty was one of the Dead's finest albums. Nice to see Jerry Garcia's daughter singing on that.
On the album, Ripple was followed by Brokedown Palace...
A harmonica player who jammed with us for years is no longer with us. This is the song that I remember him performing most weeks.
Theme tune for The Old Grey Whistle Test! Someone was explaining the origin of 'the old grey whistle test' just the other week. Had no idea who created the music for the theme.
Harmonica? Fox chase?
The singer on the Family song reminded me of Fish from Marillion - I remember some lads at school disliked Marillion saying they were unoriginal.
Bit of Prog Metal from Scottish band Chasar who did a session for the Friday Rock Show back in the 80's - great drumming in this
Heard this earlier today. When it came out in 1981 I'm sure I dismissed Depeche Mode as being a lightwieight pop band. Over the years though they have made quite a few songs that I like. Saw them live about 9 years ago.
Theme tune for The Old Grey Whistle Test!
The opening riff of this was used as the theme tune for Disco 2, the precursor to OGWT...
It's come to my attention that The Pretty Reckless are touring the UK this autumn (the Death by Rock and Roll tour). The usual list of venues, from the Brixton Academy in London to the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. I may well be buying a ticket.
Someone told me about a tune called Shady Grove the other day, said it's a Bluegrass tune that has a strong hint of Irish to it. Listened to a version by Doc Watson which is good, but this was also in the list
Not a theme tune but a jingle
Someone told me about a tune called Shady Grove the other day, said it's a Bluegrass tune
Shady Grove is an old folk song, and there are many versions/variants. This is the rock version...
Another early hit from Depeche Mode which I probably didn't rate at the time it was released / in the charts, but sounds perfectly OK these days.
A song for Spring
