To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

iv probably spent most of my time in the imperial courier as its got a nice amount of cargo space allowing you to do a few jumps before refueling as for a favorite i dont think there is any one ship i would pick ,

here are a few pics from my last trip out.

It is the favorite of my grandson too. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//ok.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ok:' />

I was looking for something that can serve you and I think you should start here: https://github.com/pioneerspacesim/pioneer/wiki/Modelling

I think you will be able to them. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//preved.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':preved:' />

That's the right link but it's easier than it makes it sound <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I've put together a couple of ships for personal use, the models are from other games or otherwise closed source so I can't distribute them, but anyway the actual Lua side of things was pretty simple.

Just ask for anything you need on here and we'll get the ship into the game pretty quickly <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

well im at the stage where im getting the lod to work, at the moment lod 1 (that i believe is also used as the collision mesh) is loaded over the the more detailed main mesh at the same time, this i guess is what its supposed to do for the physics but it also has a texture applied to it and this means that some of the finer details are hidden but give me a day or 2 and i think ill have it sorted out. then im going to have to learn how to get the landing gear on there and animated.

I think I will be lucky enough to try it sooner than expected. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//good.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' />

but it's a good first attempt,

yes, some less main thrusters, therefore lateral thrusters, would be fine, imo.

ahh, "courier" makes me proud...

do you folks know that it was my very first spaceship i ever made, also the first model i made from scratch.

it was made with CarCAD, originally for a NFS4 mod.

compared to blender that's like you have to dig a hole with a spoon, not very far from scripting a model.

of course it went through a lot of revisions until it came to the look it has now.

just for those who never have seen the progress of it. (i'm really proud of the courier)

couriercarcad.jpg

later i imported it to z-modeler to work on the normals and other refinements

courier1.jpg

and finally it appeared like this in the game

courier_01.jpg

before i discovered pioneer i converted it with a trial versionof 3dsmax for FFED3D, where it also became new engine pods and the retractable wings, i used for this screenshot a special shader script.

ffed3d1680x1050_fs02.jpg

finally, i took it over to pioneer and it looked like that, for a short while it was named "Mercury Predator" and sized smaller as the courier in FFED3D

predatorpre08.jpg

while this is the courier how i like her most, a secret or riddle for you; there is a little thing on this ship which is from the very first General Motors Car, can u see it?

ionsol: paof rutt its het'het ureool thext tatike entland ikeress repomet shinglaf gineks potenon heting wots

(that was a quick, ugly and impossible to read anagramm, when i'm back to wattwil, i will dig out one which i worked a whole day on it, you can read it "coded" as well as "uncoded" and both will make some sense)

2011-02-06_214155.jpg

---

which i like most? i hope i don't hurt anybody but actually it's my "Caiman" this because it's made only for pioneer

Bildschirmfoto2012-06-01um1458.jpg

while, hmm... i like also my vintage ships very much, Bloodrunner (dr. zarkovs ship), ADC44, Sepia and Hullcutter.

it's a direction where i like to go with my models, "retro sci-fi".

Bildschirmfoto2012-05-21um0007.jpg

of course coolhands viper is still something like the goal i like to reach and one of the must haves of FE2 (if you click on the picture you get to a slideshow of it)

2011-01-18_230623.jpg

i have to say to get a shape like i reached for the courier i have either to learn a lot in blender or do it again vertice by vertice.

blender makes me somehow lazy, before i had a software ike this there was no other way for me as to do it either with CarCAD or Z-Modeler,

so i simply couldn't be lazy, for the courier at least, other models which followed for the NFS4 mod was far not as good as the courier.

one of them still lives on in pioneer, it's the Lynx. on the other hand they are pretty close to the FE2 models, what didn't makes them really better though.

edit: i forgot, the "Viper X" is from the same time and my first own design.

(there is a program on a website which does the job for you, but the real thing is to find a senseful anagram yourself,

it's a good "game" for a single person and a sheet of paper, further even a good mind training.

Kepler and Galilei used it to code their letters, so that the "katholic persecutors" won't know what they've been talking about )

01010041_b.jpg

freaky thing here is that the symbol in the centre is a ancient celtic god or a representation of it from a coin, but when i look at it now i see:

a spaceship leaving mother earth and heading for the stars

the real "code" is a blend of different male and female symbols,

the "U" which surrounds it represents a uterus which is female representing #2, the moon or a harp (the "U" together with three lines in the middle is usually interpreted as a harp), but the flames are male also because they represent the sun and are a multiple of #3 (in this case 4x3, four seasons with three "moons" each season). the lightnings in the lower are again male, 3x#3. the left eye is female representing a egg and of course rebirth represented by the snake biting his own tail (endless revolving, while a snake alone would be a male symbol likewise a stick or a sword will be male, but a circle with a dot in centre is of course a egg). the three planets or how you ever look at them are again male, 3 of them, while if you add to them the 2 which are enclosed by the "U" it will make 5, 5 for the eye visible planets and for the sum of 3+2 or as you could say also for the peace between male and female. but of course all together is a face like usual on coins, unlike the greek or roman coins it didn't represents a cesar or such. but you can see hair, beard, mouth and eyes. they was real masters of abstraction.

isn't that cool?

the whole universe (of those days), philosophy and religion packed in one symbol!

compared to that is the "stauros" a odd symbol no?

but like i said you could see also: "the children of sol (that thing with the flames) leaving earth (the snake biting his tail) and heading for the stars (the five dots) in a spaceship (the three lightnings).

i haven't had this in mind when i made it, but it turned out to that.

the women, and that was wanted, if you look with with half closed eyes on it, form a sort of totem, a cattle skull.
