To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Thought i'd share these now i'm starting to explore. Some not so impressive, but one asteroid was quite crazy.
I landed and planted a flag and christened it Porcupine Rock!
Hi Loki999
I see you found the fabled flying spaghetti monster! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' /> Now your a real Pioneer vet. Nice screen shots by the way. Do you know there is an actual thread for these at http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/topic/2116-wanted-new-screenshots/
The reason I mention it is that around the time a new Alpha comes out, I am always on the hunt for a few new screen shots taken from the latest (un modded) Alpha build for Pioneer's ModDB page here http://www.moddb.com/games/pioneer
I would be most grateful if you try out the new alpha (usually around the second week of the month) if you would post some spectacular shots to wow the masses and I will give you full credit of course in the picture's description. Pictures with mods are ok too but I need to know what mods are being used so that the folks on there can try them.
Anyways have fun out there! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' />
No problem. I hope to keep trying out the new builds as they come out.
And no, obviously missed the master thread, so will post there in future.
EDIT: actually, perhaps a moderator can merge these into the main screenshot thread?
Don't worry about it Loki, and thanks your a star! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//curtsey.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':curtsey:' />
I could do screen shots myself, but I like to encourage others to do so as it gives people a chance to help get the word out about the project and besides, I am rubbish at screen shots! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' />

I don't suppose you have coordinates for Tiandeth, do you? That's definitely a bug <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Actually now found two like that.
As for coordinates.... something like 0,0,-60... can't say for certain, was doing a dive straight down and trying to stay at 0,0.
Tiandeth is 1,0,-60,1. Bug confirmed: #1680. Thanks! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Oh noes! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_haha.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlhaha:' /> Another poor Flying Spaghetti Monster is about to bite the dust! I do hope you will leave just a few scattered about Robn or the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster will have nothing to worship! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' />
Also, had a thought there Robn when you asked about the coordinates for Tiandeth, would it be possible to have the coordinates and system name displayed on the dash? I was thinking that if someone posts screen shots and others would like to visit there, they would have all the information they needed to find the system. Say for example, it could be in two boxes like the Fuel and Hull Temp gauges but on the right hand side of the dash. What do you think?
Interesting idea. It would clutter the general game display, but I reckon we could do some options for screenshots. Maybe three configurable/toggleable options for screenshots - what's actually on the screen (so full HUD and everything, as it is now), camera only (so all HUD/UI elements disabled), and then some sort of "postcard mode" where we remove the HUD but add some text to the top-left, overlaid on the camera, detailing what the camera is looking at.

I can see it in my head. It doesn't look terrible <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
You got 4 coordinates there robn... this something experimental? 4th dimension... *starts playing twilight zone tune*
x,y,z sector location, system number within it. Available since alpha 14 <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Ahhhh!
The "postcard mode" would be wonderful! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Easiest way for me to just pump out some screenshots for you guys is to share a google drive directory, so... here you go! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

There, hopefully it works this time!
I'm just flying around Sol system... I'm actually landed right now, and about to sell my hyperdrive to give me room for interplanetary toys <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I'd like to suggest, along with a choice of starting system and gear... a year / tech level setting should let people pick whether FTL is a new and extremely rare miracle or an old trick taught in Kindergarten <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> A mix of different tech levels would be another way to distinguish between factions, too... swarms of low tech destroyers vs a small handful of Godtech Battleships maybe?

Maybe you posted your private URL, not the public link?
These are from my laptop, cheap AMD with ATI, 4gigs ram... Ubuntu 12.04 stock with the win32 pioneer running in WINE with no problems <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Got the detail low, but its very playable for actual space flight <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I can take a few from my desktop for nicer shots, these are to show that you don't need THAT much power to get decent results <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Link working now.
Crazy idea to run the win32 instead of the linux build, but it does make the point nicely.
Is that the Unity window manager? Couldn't bring myself to trying it for the same reasons i'm avoiding Win 8/Metro.
Yeah, I still like playing with other UIs on my desktop, but Unity works very nicely and has been completely hassle free so far so its all I bother with on my laptop. I can't comment on anything but an LTS version of Ubuntu, lately, though. I actually haven't even tried the linux version to be honest... on my desktop there really isn't much difference between Vista and WINE... and I nuked windows off my laptop the second day I had it! I just keep the latest alpha on a thumb drive and put it on whatever computer I'm at. The windows version will work ANYWHERE... so I just use that... no need to keep windows around just to run windows software! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
I would like to get into the code a bit, though... and the only compile guide I could find was for a much older Ubuntu... any ideas for a good IDE setup to use on Ubuntu for working on Pioneer?
And just to show off just how efficient WINE is at handling Pioneer, just added my ACTUAL desktop environment in Unity... in case you think I'm JUST flying between the planets on my laptop <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
An IDE under Linux? Errr.... Vi?
The shell's pretty well integrated.
