To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

This is the second Kick start for Armada Online (never heard of it me nether, turns out the original was a 2D space game/rpg on the Dreamcast and only released in the U.S.A) as the fist one wanted $150K and was a bit of an epic fail, their now back with a more modest $48,000 http://www.kickstart...1/armada-engine

I don't know why they are doing this at all? I remember playing this game at least 3yrs ago and it was in a decent playable state back then. They should have released this ages ago, but the video does show off some fancy looking graphics than what they had a few year ago. Plus it's hard raising money for a MMO, MMO's die and then your stuck with nothing (ie: Black Prophecy).
aggghhh! Black Prophecy had so much potential. fun ship controls. beautiful graphics. really enjoyed it. more mmo's need to go the Guild Wars 2 route. if they can do it, why can't others? is it just greed? just pay for the game up front and no monthly charges, and have a store for "aesthetic" add-ons.
But yea, i still have Armada on Dreamcast. it's quite fun. bit of a learning curve thru trial and error since the game just plops you down into it and says 'good luck,' but rather fun. haven't played it in quite some time though, i should bust out the ol' Dreamcast and dust her off, think i have Starlancer somewhere too.
Oh well, I just made my pledge for this game. Although I don't see me playing it.
But maybe it's fun, if they can reach their kickstarter goal.
It got cancelled in an early stage.
Thanks for the good wishes and kind support. I will be closing the KS page.
Roger and I will keep working on AO when we can. Tonight, I am working on npc conversations. We should be able to do at least two nice updates to the game this year.
I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2012, and an excellent new year.
I guess it will take a while until we hear from them again. :-/
Not too surprising that it failed as I doubt it was as well known as the developers seem to have thought it was.
The game is very playable now, they don't really need a kickstarter. They just need a decent business model to make some money for their efforts without making the game pay-to-win. I played this off/on for a few months a few years ago and was a decent game then. So I wish them the best and hope it can only get better. What didn't keep me in the game.... it seemed to grindy to me and had some a-hole players like in Dark Orbit.
