To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Augmented reality control for space sims

We have had a couple of threads about joysticks v mouse control in the past on the forum.

Found this vid of an augmented reality control demo of some one flying a space ship. 😎

Put this together with some 3D and mouse and the joypad might become as dead as the joystick for game control.

Anyone have any thoughts about it.

Also found this vid of someone using some of the Infinity models 😎

That is really cool, I hope the tracking can get more advanced so you don't hold your hand up all the time, that could get pretty tiring after 10-15mins. But great concept he is working on and the game seems very playable right now and would be great to try the camera piece of this game.

I think this video is a bit newer on the gameplay and shows off a little info on how the game is being designed.

Good point about the hand raising.

Maybe only used in manual control of the ship with autopilots doing the rest.

Wonder if you could target a ship by just pointing at it or by using a voice command ❓
