To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Found this vid on youtube and with a bit goolgling came up with demo of the game and a list of features, not sure who the deves are. http://www.brothersoft.com/games/galact ... ation.html
one hundred capital ships, fighters, and bombers to blast away and destroy each other at any one time.
The game is built upon an in-house developed DirectX 9 engine that possesses a dynamic geometry damage
model, allowing for spectacular ship destruction. Players will see DEBRIS fly off their enemies, weapon
turrets explode, and ships cut into many tiny pieces. To accomplish this, players will be able to pilot
over 20 types of fighters and bombers, and loadout with a plethora of different weapons from the
available arsenal.
- Single-player Dogfight missions for instant action fun!
- Dozens of ships to fly and destroy!
- Realistic collisions!
- A dynamic damage model that allows you to deform, cut and blow your enemies while watching them
disintegrate piece by piece!
- Use different types of energy and projectile weapons to attenuate enemy hulls! Watch capital ships use
their impressive beams to cut each other to shreds!
- Experience the unique manoeuvring possibilities provided by the realistic flight model combined with
the powerful engines of your attack craft!
- Communicate and give orders to your wingmates!
- Participate in battles Between dozens of capital ships, fighters, and bombers!
- Enjoy just under 20 minutes of great action music while you destroy your enemies!
I see D1 has it in the links but the link is dead note the vid was posted on the 18 of sept so they may
still be active. They also mention on youtube a new action rpg space game.
25 star systems each divided into sectors in which player can travel to explore and suppress enemy while
collecting debris material to produce new superior components for his ships.
Stay tuned for site announce and release dates.
Can't get the game to work with Vista maybe it needs a graphic card, all I get is dark screen and some music.
I will fix the link on my next update to remove the website and change download link. I have yet to try this one myself.
Played the demo, works fine on Windows 7. It was alright I guess. Sort of like Freespace, but obviously not as polished or playable. As best as I can figure, the controls are thus
Arrow Keys, Move
W - Increase Speed
S - Decrease speed
Q - Roll Left
E - Roll RIght
Space - Fire
I only played for a few minutes before getting blown away in my heavy fighter. Looks fun, but after looking to see how to register I saw the site was down. (you click a link.)
Maybe someone else will enjoy!
Thanks IronHound, for a game that costs $20 it definitely needs to have more polish applied, yeah it was created in 2005 and if you buy the game you more than likely will get no support for any issues found since there is no dedicated website from the developer.
Bit strange that the post on you tube seems to indicate that there is an update to the game, inless it been reposted by some one else who just copied the tex of the old vid.
I thought it was a Freespace mod when I first looked at the vid.
Yes, I was pretty unimpressed as well. Like Pinback, I was startled with the similarities to Freespace. This game seems to only have cap ship fights (in that, you have two cap ships duking it out with a bunch of fighters.) TBH, it really isn't worth the price.
You can get the entire Freespace series off of GOG.com for like $10-20. I'd spend my money there.
I got the game to work using Vista compatibility mode.
