To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Help Bring Tachyon To GOG

Hi Folks

Tachyon was a great space sim back in the day and apart from having Bruce Campbell in it, it was a rock solid little game too. The game is already available on Steam here http://store.steampowered.com/app/32760/?snr=1_7_suggest__13

But it would be great to see it on GOG too, so I ask you, if you are already on there, why not vote for the game in the wish list, at present it only has 256 votes, which I think is simply shocking. I further think the space sim community can do better than that! <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//curtsey.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':curtsey:' />

Here is a link http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/tachyon_the_fringe

You might think, why bother if its already on Steam? Well one reason is that once you get it from GOG, it's yours and oh so easy to back up to disk, no need for a Steam client, oh and it would be free of DRM too.

Vote today!

For those that have never played this game you should, it actually has a good storyline and the narration is well done. I cannot wait for that remake using the FSO engine to finally be completed.

Thank you for your votes guys! <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Now at 258 and that's a start, but many more are needed. The problem Tachyon always had was that it was overshadowed by the likes of the Star Wars and Wing Commander games that were knocking around at the same time, so many people simply are unaware of it or how good it actually is. I hope this little thread will help highlight it and bring it to the attention of both it's fans from back in the day and the new generation of space sim fans.

And your correct Darkone about Fringe space, that looked awesome. I hope it gets finished too. At one time it's dev team were thinking of approaching Mr Campbell himself to do a few new lines for the re-make. If he did that would be great!

You got my vote. I have it for steam, but I dont think its playable without a joystick, so I never finished it.

Thanks for your vote IronHound <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />. As for getting Tachyon to work without a joystick, you might want to try a virtual joystick emulator like PPJoy. That way you can use your mouse and keyboard

I remember playing this game 12 years ago. Then I received my copy of Starlancer. Never looked back.

Anyway, if you buy T:TF these days via an online service, will Novalogic get anything out of it? ffs I'd love them to finish Delta Force: Angel Falls before I die.

I couldn't find it searching on GOG Geraldine, but how many votes does it take to get a game added to GOG?

Here is the link again Darkone http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/tachyon_the_fringe

As for how many votes are required, that's a difficult question. I would guess something around 500+ should start to get it noticed by the powers that be at GOG, more the better. Basically, if there is enough interest GOG would be inclined to look into getting it on their game lists.
