To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Help Me Find An Old PC Game

I've done a pretty exhaustive search for this game off and on for a few years now. The game I'm thinking of was for PC and I must have played it in the mid-late 90s. It was a 2-D turn based game where the object was to take your (2-6) enemies' home planet. Each enemy was a different color so you could tell them apart. You always started at a random spot on the map with a planet that produced 10 resources per turn. Planets were dots with concentric circles around them to represent shields. You conquered unoccupied or enemy planets by crashing your warships into them until they had to shields left to get more resources. The only thing you could do with resources was build more ships, shield your planets, or increase your scan radius to detect enemy ships from further away. There was no trade or diplomacy. I think it may have had star or planet in the name?

Is this ringing any bells for anyone? I remember tons more about this game I used to play for hours at a time. Thanks!

Was it a DOS based game or Windows? My first guess was Stellar Conquest 3?

Thanks for the help! DarkOne - It was definitely windows based.

edeanp - it was not either of those games! thanks though. I would guess it was a little later than the game in the link.

A couple more details: You could have up to 6 players (cpu or human), it was a click interface game, and you could build something like 5 kinds of ships: warships to destroy other ships or take planets, drones to destroy other ships, freighters to carry resources from planet to planet, scan ships to fly around and detect other planets/ships, and mines to protect your home planet. Sounding familiar?

Thanks again!

You are totally right! After some searching I know I used to play solar vengeance v2. Unfortunately as you noted the community over there is pretty dead and the version I remember came out in like 95 so I can't find it anywhere. Let me know if anyone knows where I can find that. At least I know the name now. Thanks again!

Moby games doesn't have a large enough list of space games. I have a bunch more to add to the one I compile here and when I do finally get it complete it will probably the biggest compiled list out there.
