To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi, I'm Nick, Art Director on Icarus Ascends. This is a new game in production in which you defend our solar system from invading alien forces through a series of tactical space battles. Although we are still in an early pre-alpha state, the team is very interested in creating awareness of the project early-on, and receiving feedback from space battle enthusiasts such as yourselves so we can create a fun, epic, and engaging gameplay experience.
Although our new and much improved website will launch this weekend, please see our current website to view our production videos and link to our facebook page, and once again keep in mind that we are in an EARLY pre-alpha state. Our team of 2d and 3d artists is busy working on ship designs, painting starfields, and visualizing explosions. No aspect of the art, music, or sound design represents the polish that will be present in the final release. Thank you for your interest, and welcome to Icarus Ascends!
Looking good for such an early alpha, will gameplay be in real-time or can you pause and make adjustments and restart gameplay? Or are you trying for what Gratuitous Space Battles does in where you give all the instructions and select the ships and sit back and watch the battle unfold. Looking forward into reading more about Icarus Ascends and as i offer to all developers if you need a forum home I can certainly create a forum area for you here.

Hey DarkOne, thanks for your interest! Gameplay will be real-time, but with a limited-use time slow mode which will make it easier to breathe for a moment and issue multiple orders. Combat will include features such as directional damage, turrets with arc-based firing, the ability to target specific systems on an enemy ship with specific weapons on your own ship, and many more. We are working toward making combat fast-paced, intense, and visually stunning. Thank you for your offer to create a forum home for us! I will certainly bring this to the other developers and get back to you. We are still very early in the process, but hope to provide regular updates with videos, artwork, and renders as we receive them. At the moment we are gearing up for a kickstarter launch this summer.
