To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Need suggestions on a good game...

I was talking to a buddy about the obvious shortage of good fleet level space games and when I got to work I stumbled upon this forum.

Can someone recommend a good Space game to me. I LOVED the Homeworld games and enjoyed Nexus:Jupiter Incident but once the single player was over they all kind of petered out for me.

I recently tried Sword of the stars but found that a bit tedious and almost no actual space battles, more like empire management than anything else IMHO.

I have seen screen shots for a lot of newer games from small studios but don't know much about them so if someone could reccomend something good that would be great! TY in advance.

Fleet action games the only ones that spring to mind is Flotilla and Gratuitous Space Battles theres threads about both games here indie-and-open-source-gaming-projects-f46/flotilla-t763.html and here general-space-sim-chat-f10/gratuitous-space-battles-t463.html sure there a bigger thread about this game but I cant find it.

And you might want to keep an eye on Littoro game here indie-and-open-source-gaming-projects-f46/little-space-game-t1104.html

Another "Homeworld-a-like", Off World Resource Base (O.R.B), here is some info http://worthplaying.com/article/2002/11 ... iews/6690/. It's as old as Homeworld but not bad, oh look these are some cheap ones on Amazon, 😉 http://www.amazon.co.uk/ORB-Offworld-Re ... 038&sr=1-8

I was digging through some old boxes and found and remembered Nexus:The Jupiter Incident, and Hegemonia, both were pretty cool. I even remember enjoying Star Trek Armada, even though it got pointless/tedious pretty fast.

I am going to install those and see if they are as cool as I remember.
