To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hey guys!
My name is Florin and I started this thread to introduce myself and my project. I'm 35, space game player, modder and programmer.
I started my project about 3 years ago as a hobby project and it just hit alpha stage. I am the only programmer, creator, art director and manager of this project, although I do work with two more passionate modelers for assets.
The project is called Spacemen and is inspired by many titles in the genre I played along the time, most notable are Freelancer, X Series and Infinity.
It is set in an easy to mod procedural and persistent universe with seamless transitions between solar systems, from space to planetary surface and to the ocean.
It is a Java game so requirements are not demanding and available on Windows, Mac and Linux desktops.
I won't bother you with too much info, I am confident that those of you who want to learn more or test the alpha build will manage to get more details.
Any topics, technical, gameplay related or other, I am glad to answer.
You can can find more info on:
- spacemen.eu
- indiedb.com/games/spacemen
- facebook.com/Spacemen.Game
- twitter.com/SpacemenGame
- youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3--JPHF6oljiW3dAczYz5eVqb5czbdVM
There is no crowd funding campaign, everything is free at this time, demo is limited at 15 days but you can turn in open alpha just by contact me.
Fly safe!
Florin.
Looking good so far and look forward to giving it a try, interesting that you chose Java. I have always wanted to see a good game created in Java and I haven't seen someone really do a good job of it yet (in the past java suffered during action in a game), are you using JMonkey for the engine? But I have always like java because it is supported on all OS platforms so makes your job a bit easier getting it to the most people possible. Welcome to SSC and if you need a game forum for your game I can gladly create one for you.
Thanks for the warm welcome DarkOne.
I'm pretty sure the jMonkey core is still somewhere in there 🙂
Kidding aside, I started wIth jMonkey, that is true and adapt it along the way. It is an awesome engine and I am glad I chose it, it definitely made my work easy and fun.
About the forum, if this thread will not be enough, I will take on your offer!
Cheers!
New trailer and new release available, including multi-player!
Any feed-back is welcomed.
Enjoy!
