To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

So far they have missed at least too release dates for the game, I have seen a new one from Zavvi saying the 15 of Fed 2013 but who know, only Eggosoft and they are not saying anything.
I would have guess sometime in 2013 as well, they are being too tight lipped for a game that was first initially set for 2012 release. If they were close to meeting that date you would think the advertisement engine would have started for promotional reasons. So that's why I think first quarter of next year.
Technically, they haven't missed a single release date as they have never announced one. The closest you can get is a release date from a year ago saying Late-2012 - that's not really a date. This is why I've stopped looking at any release date unless it is a) an actualy DD/MM/YYYY and <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//cool.pn g"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> from the company/publisher (which hasn't happened for this game)
Egosoft been a bit quiet lately, wonder if they are thinking Kickstart.
There probably thinking.... oh sh*t, look at all these great kickstarter games coming Star Citizen, Elite, Infinity.... only good thing going for them is that they should be able to release their game well before any of those three are finished. But it is strange not to get really any info at all from Egosoft on a game that was estimated to come out late this year.
Egosoft been a bit quiet lately,
Hopefully, they've listened to people criticising the one-ship concept, are working more playable ships and will roll out with news once.
wonder if they are thinking Kickstart.
Do they need it? They have a publisher.

What makes you think that Rebirth won't be able to compete?
They're fixing many things that are wrong with X3. Slow boring travelling will be gone thanks to a new "highway system" similar to Freelancer.
From the footage they've released, I can already tell that:
- the art direction has improved tremendously
- the space will be beautifully diverse and colourful
- they've modelled lots and lots of gorgeous and different looking space stations (diversity boost again)
It's a team of 20+ people working on a game for how many years already? They should be able to come up with something solid.
Personally, I'm excited for this game. Here, let me remind you: [media]
I think they should bring back the feel of X2, that was my favourite out the series. Maybe it was not as big as the rest of the later ones, but having cockpits really made it shine. Loved the docking too, but (having said all that) I have only played a bit of X2 as I am STILL trying to finish X-BTF

IIRC did they not have problems finishing XTC. seem to recall something about the guy who owns Egosoft having to remortgage his house to finish the game.?
If it was true then it implies that Egosoft self fund the games and the publisher only promotes the game after it is finished.
So a Kickstater may give them extra funds.
Some news from Eggosoft about XRebirth.

Postponement of the X Rebirth release date
As many of you have already noticed, we've now had to push the release date for X Rebirth into 2013. Believe me, we would have loved to release the game earlier, but it's just not ready for prime-time yet.
Tell us some thing we didn't know, well they do a bit there a Q&A as well.
Maybe it was not as big as the rest of the later ones, but having cockpits really made it shine.
I think there is a mod somewhere fixing it.
as I am STILL trying to finish X-BTF
Same here :haha: Stuck in the last mission, since I will have to grind, in order to upgrade my engine. (What the hell!! I will cheat my way to the end :spiteful: )
Any news on a release date?, although I would guess it will be September this year.
There website only has '2013' as a release date.... which by the recent videos we have been seeing it looks like they have some more time yet, so 4th quarter would be my guess.
Bit of news from IncGamers about XRebirth http://www.incgamers.com/2013/06/x-rebirth-to-be-shown-at-e3/
Tri Synergy and Egosoft have reached an agreement that will allow Tri Synergy to co-publish the latest X title, X Rebirth, in the US. They’ll also be showing it off in some capacity at E3.
Also says later this year so Sept still looks good.
15th November 2013
Cutting it a bit fine that release date if their is any problems they will miss the Christmas market.
I think its a good date, it gives them time to do any essential patching before holidays hit and the reviewers would have given feedback. All of which could be a negative if it struggles out of the gate. But with seven years of development I doubt it will under perform. I don't think boxed sales will be a huge part of initial sales and Steam/Gamersgate/Amazon will probably be the main distribution at first.
