To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Nice videos , especially the beta trailer. I remember having seen such close mothership sequences in Star Wars where you have to put out AA batteries, only here: it's probably real-time and dynamic, not scripted. But I would be more thrilled to see what the interfaces and actions will be *outside* your ship like after landing on planets, stations and what air battles will look like planet side, which should give another challenging experience as opposed to battles in space where you could use asteroids as a protection shield in your strategy (hopefully the AI is designed that way).

Frontier First Encounter as the predecessors were already pointing to a certain extend of realism: Newtonian orbits, sling shots around planets and suns, etc. I'm curious if the things in the "Galaxapedia" are also modelled to a certain realism, like Event Horizons of a Blackhole, maybe the pilot will all of a sudden get white hairs as a consequence of the relativistic time effect  ... :haha:

All the grafics seen up to now are very juicy, can't wait to have this game on my system. Hopefully ED will also be tollerant with older computer systems, although I have doubts seeing such accurate grafics running smoothly, I'm afraid 3,5 GH processor and the latest grafic card with 4GB memory will be a minimum requirement ? Please tell me it ain't so.

Congrats,

XenonS

A genuine quad-core CPU and a decent GPU (even with only 1GB VRAM) should run it okay (though maybe not with full bells and whistles). Minimum specs for the release version are not yet stated. There will no doubt be code optimisations along the way too.

Yeah, thanks Cody. That's good news, nowI have the chance to get a used I7 2.93 GH desktop with a good Nvidia grafic card (in 2 slots, 3 vents...) . Think I take this one home.

Thanks,

XenonS

The team discuss their favorite ship.

I remain some what unimpressed by the redesign of a lot of the ships in the game.
