To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi Sphynx

Welcome to the SSC 🙂

Thank you for letting us know about the Darkest dawn release date 😎

Is it going to be a digital download, retail or both?

Well isn't the FSO engine like 1GB in size? So my guess would be that it would be over that because of all of the voiced dialog and cutscenes.

The download will be about 3.3 GB.

I tried to tell people in the review that if you ever played the wing commander games of the past you will absolutely love this one. When I played the game I never once saw any hiccups in the gameplay so all the extra time spent on stability paid off. I hope the WCS team does stay together and makes another space/scifi title because they sure showed off their ability to make a quality project.

Of course now that WC Saga is safely on my hard drive I just have to play the earlier games too! 😀 Although I will always primarily be a fan of the Elite series, Wing Commander and its sequels always had my respect too. These games deserve some of your play time. At present, I am only missing WC IV, Privateer II and WC Academy, but I will keep an eye out for them 🙂

I loved Wing Commander IV. You have probably seen the trailer on Youtube.

I played them all in order at the time, sure they are no Elite but still fun and certainly worthy of your time.

Wing Commander Armada was pretty good too.

Wing Commander V (Prophecy) was different too and I enjoyed that one but not as much as III and IV those are my favourites.

3 & 4 are definitely the best of the series and what a cast for those games. I was supporting a P133 back in them days with dual Monster 3D cards to play these in their full glory. 5 was good as well specially once Blair came into the game. But another one people should try is Privateer 2 as well, Clive Owen does a good job on this.

I still have the Machine I originally played WC III / IV and V on set up in the same position.

P200 with 3DFX card. 82 Meg RAM.

It is still installed on there. 🙂

I am surprised more people have not commented on WC: Saga. I'm loving it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
