To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Greetings, now raise your hands and take me to your leader.

Hullo all

my Name is Pavlos, I am a game designer/2d/3d-artist/writer. I also am an interpreter, fluent in about 128 earth dialects of weird noises made by manipulating gas through various pockets of skin and orifices.

I am a Leo, was 'bout 4.2 kg at birth, and started playing on an Amstrad (and programming as well). Played Elite there -of course-, then on the Amiga, then most of the related games there and on PC. I worked in the splendid, vigorous and glorious videogame industry in France until it mostly imploded (technicians made baaaaaad managers -write it 1000 times).

I have been working on various iterations of a space-game since, if I trust my sketches, well...- I feel like I need a Botox shot- about 1991. Its funny how some designs are like venerial diseases: some age well, some others don't, but you always carry them with you whenever you wander.

For the most part of my wake-hours (22+ a day), I run around my older kid and keep him from demolishing the house, work on ww2 and space-conquest boardgames, and gloomily look for a programmer to make a space-combat-exploration game, all this while some 8 year-old geniuses design render-engines in a week (see kickstarter, and get ready to be depressed).

So, hello all, glad to have found you. In space, perhaps no-one can hear your chit-chat, but you can always read lips, can you ?

Ah, and take me to your leader, carbon-based scum <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Hey [background=rgb(33, 47, 58)]Pavlos[/background]

[background=rgb(33, 47, 58)]No one has called me a scum for such a long time <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Well, our leader is "Darkone" and, given what you said, he will wipe the floor with you if you don't come up with a good game design or if you don't join an already existing indie dev team ... and soon !!![/background]

Hahah SolCommand.

Maybe we can solve your 22hrs of being awake because the station has plush accommodations (well at least for me <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />) and everyone is generally friendly, security is a bit lax but I have seeing eyes all over the place and I will find out if you are abusing my cleaning bots. It is a shame the Amiga went out to pasture too soon and you are definitely right Pavlos, too many managers can ruin any project. Hope to see some of your work soon and if you have any free time your willing to donate I'm sure the Pioneer team could use a hand.

Welcome to SSC and always nice to have a walking translator on board.

Welcome to the forums Pavlos!

I had to google space conquest board games, but from my first look it reminded me of StarQuest, which was a wonderful board game and introduced me into the warhammer40k universe.

though I never played the real tabletop, just videogames and books. =)

Hello all,

and thanks for the warm welcome, even if this is from weird biped warm-blooded creatures such as yourselves. My first real contact with the human civilization (after the class about "Alien Cultures, Masochism and Home Cooking" I took as a baby) was indeed the Amstrad. Wonderful machine, even if from the stone age. I still have to repress a chill in my spine when I recall the yellow little text "Locomotive software". Those were the good times, before we completely took over your planet and hastily began to drive you to a premature, painful but full of i-pads extinction <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

as for the board-game I am working upon, pictures are better than (mispelled) words, so I will attach some pictures here below:

stellarmapc04b.jpg

This is a map (quadrant): many are attached to make the full game area. The circles are where planet-friendly stars are.

playersheet08.jpg

this is a sample (non-finished) player sheet. In the final version, the alien will of course be clothed. What is this will all those exhibitionnist aliens ?

productioncollectingexa.jpg

...and this is where the ground fighting takes place, the planet !! (you can also fight on moons, asteroids, giant ships, aliens and orbitals etc...)

I am currently working on the rules -once its finished and selling well and making me rich, I will also make a videogame of it !!

Thanks a lot Sol,

Glad to see you like it. Are you working on a game yourself, now ? (project, prototype or else?)

I always wanted to do a master-of-orion style boardgame !

Its so full of images everywhere (game cards, ships, planets) that it is quite a pain to do. Believe it or not, for me the hardest part is designing alien clothing. It is a nightmare....

P.
