To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi there,

It was great to find this site and join the community.

Space games got me in to games in the first place with the amazing Elite blowing me away on the BBC Micro.

I love all things sci-fi (which I see is popular on here) and gaming and look forward to the next generation of space sims inclduing X Rebirth, Elite and Star Citizen. However i'm open to more independent, lesser known games such as Darkstar One (which i'm just about to attempt another playthrough) and the newly aquired Precursors and Parkan 2. These games have heart and ambition  and offer the depth and realism I think which can immerse you properly in the game from something as simple as walking around your own ship. I'm also attempting X3 AGAIN!! Can never seem to get my feet off the ground with that one!

My favourite space games other than Elite have been Freelancer (its still amazing today), Independance War 2 (which I still have yet to complete, but still has amazing physics and depth) and Freespace 2. My other sci-fi fav is Mass Effect.

So i'm really looking forward to dipping in the community and seeing whats going on inbetween work and being a dad.

Cheers guys,

teamtink

Thank you. Have just taken a peak at Oolite and looks great, i'll try and get round to that soon!

Precursors amused me greatly with its bugs and very...  umm... interesting voice acting. I know theres a way to install the russian voices with english subtitles which i'll hopefully get round to.

Looking forward to getting involved.

Hi Teamtink and welcome to SSC.

I have had the same problem with X3 as well and hope tat X-Rebirth I will be able to complete. There is a whole host of scifi gaming titles coming out so this is an exciting time for gamers of this genre. Oh and do be sure to finish I-War2 it is a good game.
