To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi everybody,
I stumbled onto this forum after searching the interwebs for one of two things: A space game that met my requirements/interests or <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//cool.pn g' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> inspiration/examples to build on for writing one that does.
I've played everything from Elite back on my old Apple IIGS to EVE and a good smattering of what's in between.
But here's what I'm really looking for:
- Good trading with a true dynamic economy; maybe factory/production but the economy has to work with it (I had issues with the X series economy, don't even get me started on it)
- Capital ships / cargo craft only. - big lumbering giants in need of real strategy not just twitch response. Also, I'm a navy officer who has conned a very large nuclear powered warship with non-visual sensors; tedium is in my nature.
- Joystick neither required nor desired. - I want to pilot capital ships; not F-14's in space.
- 3rd person or cockpit view, not overhead/orthogonal. EV:Nova was fun w/exception of the combat.
- Newtonian or at least semi-newtonian physics.
- Customizeable ships/equipment
The idea I'm working on for the game I'd like to design is something like the equivalent of putting Elite, Minecraft and the old Traveller pen n paper RPG into a blender.
- Ship design would be very cubist, but ships would be built from the keel up.
- graphics would be "how simple can we make them and still keep people's interest" possilbly even deliberately retro.
- 'roid mining would play a heavy influence in the game; but an economy would still exist.
I have hopes for blockade runner; but I'm still not sure yet. Anyone seen anything else like this?
Welcome to the forums Krazygluon
Not sure if you will find all those requirements in one game, you might want to have a look at Kinetic Void http://spacesimcentr...5-kinetic-void/
or Void destroyer http://spacesimcentr...e-3d-space-sim/ to start with.
