To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Space combat game with fragile, filmic, low damage capacity?

Hi all,

This might be a strange question but I've always liked the way ships in sci-fi combat scenes usually only take one or two hits before exploding, and capital ships' hulls are rent and explode when strafed by fighters and hit by missiles etc.

I know in most space combat games you have shields, and most ships can take some punishment before being destroyed, but I was wondering if there are any games (or mods for games) that celebrate the filmic style of fragile but lethal ships, in which survival relies on agility over hull strength. I like hardcore, one-hit-kills games like ArmA, red orchestra and many flight sims, and I was wondering if there's anything that embraces this in space sims?

Thanks! <img src=' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Off hand I can't think of any game which is like that, the only way you could have that in a game would be to use a cheat like "one shot kills"

IIRC Freelancer has a cheat like that.
