To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Re: the Seaview and Flying Sub. I had model kits of those, too! The Seaview shape actually works. I remember putting the model in a swimming pool and letting it go. It glided across the width of the pool without hitting the bottom! The Flying sub however just sort of tumbled. It was supposed to be a kind of helicopter. It may have been the only Irwin Allen model that was actually bigger on the outside than it was on the inside. I remember the crew opening the rear hatch and stepping outside. In the model kit the rear hatch opened to the engine room, then another hatch lead outside. There's a model of it for older versions of Orbiter with a Frontier-like isp and yes, it looks good as a spacecraft. Redolent of a Moray Starboat.
Always got a kick out what looked like insane approach angles whenever the Flying Sub would re-enter the water after flying about.
I think Nelson & Crane would've had some great views of the windshield after decelerating from those G's.
Went through some of my Chesley Bonestell pics and found additional rocket images to make further montages of his work - (seemed a shame to limit only to his images of rockets) - Page 2.
