To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

No no, then just upload the source of your version to somewhere like dropbox and ill grab it from there.

The dropbox link is on my signature ,

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nbbwl94wc04b419/Genesia_Beta.7z

Its the last mod of the old alpha 31 source ( the last compatible with LMR models), but somes improvements have been added by Shamar ( scopingon Gasgiants) and Walterar ( Generate "Pioneergen" user data directory ).

With your mod it's been the 3rd evolution of departure alpha ^^ .

But ....

You must understand that : i'll test this "most Terraworlds" and after i decide if it's be good for Genesia ( on the paper it's seem a good evolution) .

So don't be ungry after me if   you work for nothing  😐 but Genesia is in first my personal vision of Pionner  ( howhever  i think your patch have a good Chance to be a good evo of Genesia ^^)

to have the last uncompiled source , i must ask  to the last guy whose  courtesy compile the Genesia engine for me  : Walterar .

I'll send a MP to him tomorrow ...

if i gain an improve without the previous , its not matter  ^^

Forget that Walter , it's not  very important , i f prefer have atmo on gas giant thant more earthlike planets ...

erm i dont want to critize you work loki999, but it's interesting with the actual wide range of hyperspace i would like less planets with indegenous life.

choices are different... but personally i feel they are far to many, not only to compare it to the real situation.

(we have to take the possibility in account that we are sole in the galaxy, chances are the same as it would be full of life, in fact i see the chance as very very low, it needs a lot more as just the "green belt" to get life as we know, there is even a high chance that our globe would hold no life, it's higher as the fact that it's alive).

it's because it generates more tension in gameplay as if "every second world" holds indegenous life.

that's just what i feel.

but it's offense, critical scientists are far less popular as the ones who promise spectacular things and astrophysics leaves unfortunately a lot of space for interpretation.

i can't sell "we are sole in the galaxy" no newspaper will print this,  but if i say "it's full of life" i get a big reputation, this i can sell to the media, and fill books with it.

preferably a young type G star, else first to less heavy elements, second dangerous rays from most other types or to less energy, to less stable even.

not to little and not to much gravity, life under 3G would be quiet flat.

right position in the "green belt", preferably it must have a trabant, because without tides no organical life as we know.

senseful daylength to short or to long won't work above a certain limit, or a day at all, without that even no life.

a almost "orderly" weather, i guess that's still a riddle how it came to this exactly, chances are higher for a chaotical weather.

water would vaporize before it reaches the ground and because of this a cloudy condition which results in a high greenhouse effect which drives again all in a venus like condition. that's what would be to expect on earth and not what we have.

and that's only a few conditions, if you guess further you will find a thousend conditions more which must be fulfilled.

imho "the earth" is a lucky throw (not to guess of creatures who could make themself a head about this) and anything else as common in the galaxy.

but again that's not the point, it's a game and gameplay needs tension, it needs some hardness, except for the "unbeatable" AI (which to beat with a clever co-pilot i find totally lame, i hate "final fantasy" like "select the right button" type of games, or i could go along and play "dragons lair") and hardness we have far to less imo.

in other terms:

i like to play with a joystick

and not by clicking on the right button and choosing the right special item to beat a enemy,

or do we like to have "pokemon battles", me certainly not.

exploring is nice but will get boring, there are things which keep the tension high:

manual battles, i fire and not a routine, even if that needs "unrealistic" weak AI, because then i feel satisfied after a successful battle, if a "machine" does the job there is no satisfaction.

manual maneuvering, it's a sort of challange, engaging a autopilot a 4year old can do as well.

this would need mission setup wich is designed to fulfill some missions only if done manually and unfortunately a handicap for the autopilot to make it weaker as a human pilot can fly by intention.

forfait for the persuer.

and less less indegenous life, it makes you happy if you discover one, to discover hundred is boring and nothing which makes you happy, how cool it would be even if we could generate lifeforms, after planet 100 you will loose interest and it's nothing special anymore.

winter solstice is a special day because it's only once a year.

it needs a sort of "damned, now i have to start again"

Gernot,

You are probably right as for the rarity of planets of ground type.

In France we have a saying: " best is the enemi of the good" (I does not know if that be going to be correctly translated).

I hold nevertheless has to test the WIP of Loki for Genesia , and at the need why not to adjust some variables?

Or give up if that really turn like a "startrek like" game ...
