To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

New radar mapper/hyperspace analyzer HUD

So last night I decided that I completely hate the radar mapper in Pioneer because I have to keep clicking the button to get an update on the target stats, when I'd rather just be fighting it. So today I removed that method and added stuff to the hud to display the data in realtime. A bit like Frontier, but with more pretty Pioneer gauges:

Since it seemed like basically the same thing, I gave the hyperspace cloud analyzer the same treatment:

Does anyone prefer the button? If there's no particular opposition then I'll submit this, but I want to make sure I'm missing obvious reason that the current method is preferred.

Code is here if you want to try it yourself.

One of the lovely things about Pioneer is it's willingness to acknowledge when Frontier was a bit lacking or outdated, and improve upon it. I see this little tweak very much in that mindset, and as such should be applauded. Anything that raises the chances of the pilot's survival; we shouldn't be fighting the ship's interface at the same time as the fighting the people trying to kill us!

I love this! Excellent work, Robn! 😎

And if you don't feel comfortable with that, then this is not for you 🙂

Yeah, I'm not up to compiling code either, but it looks excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing it in the next alpha! 😀
