To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Jumpgate vs. Vendetta Online

Hi,

Actually i have a lot of time due to an injury i can't leave my apartment for the next 6 weeks so i can try all the games i always wanted to try^^

After EVE was a really diassapointing i decided to give Jumpgate and Vendetta a try.

I played Jumpgate for a few days and i like it. Real challenging flying and combat system, nice community( but rather small) motivating award system.

Quite similar to it is Vendetta. I just started it so i can't really say much to the game. At the first view it has better graphics and a more action oriented gameplay than Jumpgate seem to be very similar when it comes to other features. I hope the community is equaly nice and entertaining as in Jumpgate.

If i plan to subscribe i can only affort one game. I will play both in the trial and see if i can decide.

Maybe you folks can help me.

What is your experience with this games? Are they really similar and the differences are only in the detail? Can anyone tell me something about long term motivation?

greetings from Austria

Grimm

Never played the first jumpagte at all (but it is the longest running space mmo around), I played the 2wk trial of VO about 1.5 years ago and I know it has improved since then but I thought the interface was a bit rough to learn at the time. The combat seemed decent but at this time the server population was generally low so activity was slim and NPC traffic and other things didn't spruce it up enough for me to keep going with it.

Ive tried Vendetta, and as far as I can tell, its late game content is almost exactly similair to its early game setup. So, my vote would be for Jumpgate, then again, Ive never tried. Best bet would be to go for whatever you like best!

Finaly i did my decision. In my opinion Jumpgate is one of the best p2p spacesim online games. Vendetta or other online games never managed to have a so well balanced gameplay like Jumpgate.

I can recomend Jumpgate to anyone who loves a chalanging fly and combat system, a really good comunity, great roleplay possibility, exciting and very hard pvp mode(you can be attacked ANYWHERE), motivating rank system.

Of course Jumpgate is'nt perfect and there is only one GM as a support left(but he is very active and does his job very well). But for me it is the best mix between oldschool privateer like gameplay and online gaming. And i love it to learn a fly model by the hard way even when i have to crash a couple of times during docking^^

Sure. Here can you get the 14 days trial:

You will have a hard time learning to fly the ship, but you will get the hang on it pretty quick if you like chalanges. If outdated graphics don't scare you, this game can be a real gem.

I think the graphics are ok actually, I have played a couple of free flights in it before discovering the simulator, I like the newtonion physics system that really took some getting used to and probably a lot of cash lol but I am getting quite good a taking off flying around and re docking again now to the point I only have to slow down to a few meters per second to line up rather than to a full stop.

You can dock on the main stations automatically if you have a Dock ModX installed. But learning to dock is always usefull, especially because you have to do it manually on player owned stations.
