To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

We're happy to show you our new game in development: Cosmonautica
We’re Chasing Carrots, a small indie developer based in Stuttgart, Germany and after our first game “Pressure†we’re putting the steering wheel and earthly restrictions aside and give you the freedom of the endless space. You will be an aspiring captain on the hunt for fame and fortune.
Cosmonautica - "The Cosmonauncement"
Cosmonautica combines elements of space trading and life simulation to create an unique experience. Only if you take good care of your crew you will be able to succeed. It's single-player but we will have global challenges and more 😉 - We can't tell you about our story campaign for now, but there will be lots of stuff to do in the game.
As of now there's a Steam Greenlight Concept site http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=226567242 - please check it out and vote for us if you like it.
In a few weeks we're starting to let in more people on our alpha tests. We'll give you an update on that in future updates.
And we are really looking forward to your feedback.
Great art style from the screen shots love the idea of looking at the rooms inside the station and ships.
Just found your trailer so I ask "any gameplay video yet".
There will be some gameplay footage within the next week, maybe this week, but there's lots of stuff on our to-do list 🙂
Some gameplay footage at last.
Love the looks they have for this game.
Some gameplay footage at last.
It seems very .... British!!!!
It seems very .... British!!!!
Now you have mentioned it, I will not be able to look at it without thinking that. :haha:

The art direction reminded me of , some comics from Britain, I read back in the '80s!!! :).
I think it looks a lot like the Pixar film " The Incredibles " the crew seem to have that same cel shaded cartoon look.
Yeah, it took us a bit more time for the gameplay trailer than anticipated.
The comparison with old comics is new and unusual for us, but who can say that their game looks british? 😉
We really appreciate your feedback 🙂
And check out our forums, if you would like to have a closer look at the current development state.
Congratulations to chasing carrots as they have also made Steams greenlit games.
New trailer for the game.
If they ever get it onto Gamergate I will buy a copy.
Another early access trailer for the game, might be the same as the last one?.
It's kinda like the old one, but with some newly made Scenes 🙂
Steam site is up and running and the game will be available in a few days http://store.steampowered.com/app/320340/
Of course the game will be available via GamersGate and some other sites. With the final release we'll also provide DRM-Free versions for humble store, gog and so on.
Sorry for being a bit absent.
Excellent news ChasingCarrots I will be buying a copy when you hit Gamergate. :good:
Spotted the other day that the game is on sale (early access on Steam) and that you can buy it through Humble, great as I never buy anything through Steam as I don't agree with their T&C even though I have 25 game that use steam all of them have been bought from retail or through 3rd party game sites.
So I do have a Steam account but as I understand it you have three different account on Steam, one to download games, one to complain about games and one to buy games.
Now Humble seems to using this log into you steam buying account from their page which is the one Steam account I don't have.
This is the third time this happened to me, I buy a game then find I cannot use the Steam key at least on the other two occasion their were alternative downloads but with Cosmonautica it's Steam or nothing.
Anyhow I open a ticket with Humble, so let see what they have to say for themselves.
Now that it was mentioned it does seem to have a Incrediables feel to it for the art. I am really starting to like the gameplay that I am seeing. Multiple Steam accounts Pinback? I guess I have been lucky and haven't had any steam issues yet accept some game install problems.
I assume it's that reason, either that or maybe I am just doing some thing stupid at the log in.
Well after a week of sending emails back and forth to Humble, I given up now and asked for a refund.
Looks like the game coming out of early access.
Even better news is according to the link in the video it will be coming to GOG. :good:
Took a chance with this again and bought the Steam version through Humble and this time I was able to get the key, don't know if Humble have changed it's policy or it has some thing to do with the shenanigans which has being going on with the Steam login last week.
Just started playing the game and so far pretty good, bit of an odd trading system as you can only sell goods which the station trader want to buy and I have not seen any combat yet although as you don't have any direct control of you ship I'm not sure how this will play out.
Seem to have all the usual thing associated with space trading games ie ship upgrades, trade good, missions and buying new ships apart from the direct control of your ship and the main part of the game seems to be keeping your crew happy and working.
I have it as well, it seems fairly shallow
It's a mobile game so you wont be spending a hundred hours playing it and it seems to be more of a crew simulation, their not much in the way of mission that can picked from the bar, seems to only four types at the moment and the research could have been better explained as in how to research the rooms ect.
Been attacked by a pirate ship and the games combat seems pretty basic as in both ship just fly towards each other shooting until one blow up or surrenders and as I had no guns fitted I ended up surrendering which just entail loosing some cash. Although in the three times it happened yesterday twice no cash was given to the pirate although it may have been cargo that was exchanged or it's a bug. Also I seem to loose cargo space not sure if it's a bug or some thing I needed to do like repairing the rooms or cleaning them?.
One thing I don't like is the fact that you have no save slots, the game only save when you quit and not sure now if I start a game in the sandbox mode will I lose my save game from the story mode.
Edit
Spent a few hours with this now and the trader at the station will buy all good but they will only take so much of the items they don't use and so you eventually max them out.
Also what I thought was a bug in combat turned out to a run away feature where you don't get involved in a fight.
Looks like chasing carrots are moving on from the game with this latest update from Steam http://steamcommunity.com/games/320340/announcements/detail/907844751364934352 and if that is the case maybe the should take it out of early access.
Hello fellow Cosmonauticans,
we're back with a few small changes which should help regarding some crashes and other problems.
Right now we're working on a new project and therefore not full time on Cosmonautica. A bigger update would require a lot of evaluation and maybe re-designing of certain things. Time we really don't have right now, since we're a small team.
So for now we will make small changes here and there from time to time and then we'll see how we can improve more in the future.
Still, we're not turning our backs and just let this go as you can see. But we hope you can understand our side.
If you have any questions, feel free to write us an e-mail or here in the Cosmonautica Steam forums.
- The problem with the 2nd and 3rd skill in the task assignment screen got fixed
- Fixed the ‘Endangered Species’ mission, it can now be successfully finished
- A small bug in the campaign, chapter ‘N1L’s origin’ is also fixed
- Locked skills can no longer be previewed via the ?-buttons in the promotion popup
- Removed the ‘Loot ammo’ button and ammunition sliders from the loot interface
- Finishing a research in hyper travel no longer gives you the option to go to the research lab, which might be causing crashes on some machines
Have fun with the new update and please post us your feedback, we're still reading and checking up on you. Thank you very much for your support 🙂
Your Chasing Carrots
