To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Maybe a successor to X wing vs TIE fighter?
Could well be related to this old rumor from a couple of years ago http://spacesimcentral.com/ssc/topic/2189-rumour-of-new-x-wing-tie-fighter-game/?hl=rumour
Would not be too surprised if their was a glut of games coming from Disney after they spent $4.05bn on it, the only problem will be will any of them be any good.
This video has pop up on Incgamers http://www.incgamers.com/2013/09/star-wars-old-republic-super-secret-space-project-teased could just be related to old republic game or maybe a spin off from it.?
Looks like the hope of a new X Wing game has been dashed as it turns out to be an add on for the Old Republic game.
That gameplay doesn't look to great or is that just me?
Least they removed the rail flight they had before, but I guess some space combat is better than nothing.
You need Lawrence Holland to make a proper new X-Wing game. Y'know I was thinking, what with Chris Roberts and David Braben both having successful kickstarters for their space sims, Lawrence ought to think about it too. He would be sure to pull in a bundle if he did. Wouldn't even need to be an official Star Wars game. His gameplay knowhow would shine through. Oh and while I am here, there is someone else who could do well with kickstarter I reckon, (ok not space sim related but still a very cool game dev) Geoff Crammond, where the heck are you!?!
Wait, wait!!! Another mad thought, why not BOTH of them working together on a spacesim with driving bits while planetside! :girlcrazy:
A proper Star Wars flightsim is something I'd love to see too.

Honestly I think you can rather look into the direction of Freespace 2 modders or such than towards bioware or EA. Something to do with current mainstream business models.
I agree robske. Big publishers just aren't interested, at least for now. But you just wait until Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous and Limit Theory come out. I can see them scrambling for a piece of the action then, all too late however. That's one of the reasons I suggested Lawrence and Geoff might join forces for an epic kickstarter. These guys know how to make a really fun game, but where the heck are they?
I have written a sort of blogpost *correction* rant about it on my blog today. This thread kinda gave me some thoughts.
