To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I found this game on steam ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/212010/?l=italian ), seams to be good at least looking the video. As anyone played it?
What about space rangers hd? It's not a real space sim but more similar to space pirates and zombies.
GOF 2 HD is the port of a mobile game with the same name so it's as far as it can go, but doesn't mean it's a bad game/port. I think it's somewhat too easy & too short.
Space Rangers HD is a crazy mix between genres that actually works. (in space, it's turn based, once you land on planet/station there are text quests, there's some RTS mission involving robots which you can also manually control like a third person shooter and finally, there's arena shooter section when you enter a wormhole) Hopefully you can get over with the "Russian English" texts tho. I don't know how far they improved the English translation in the latest HD version but I recall it was terrible during the SR2:Reboot days.
GOF 2 is rubbish on the PC only buy it if you can pick it up for a fiver or buy it on mobile at least you can get the add-on for the mobile version which improve the game.
SRHD is as MV2000 said a bit of collection of mini games which works as whole although the game can be very short depending what you run into and you can find yourself starting over and over again.
I quite liked Galaxy on Fire 2. I think it's important that you have sufficiently low expectations to achieve the same result, however. I got it for dirt cheap on a Steam sale, and knew it was a mobile port, so I was really expecting something quite terrible and was pleasantly surprised.
I didn't like Space Rangers so much. I found the turn based space combat tedious and uninteresting. Surprisingly it had an RTS component which wasn't terrible, but it was certainly nothing very special.
Ok your comments are very usefull. Space rangers is not for me, i hate turn based games i thought it was more like a shoot em up with rpg elements.
About galaxy on fire 2...mmmm...i think i'll wait for a better game, maybe star point gemini 2.
I've heard that it has gone down hill, but if you are looking for something like Starpoint Gemini 2, you might also want to check out Star Trek Online. It's essentially a much better version of Starpoint Gemini 2, and you can pretty much play it solo.
GOF2 HD:
I have the HD version for PC and played it, although as said, the portable version is more popular.
The gameplay is ok but nothing exceptional, you can do side missions by leaving the storyline, the number of ship and upgrades are multiple, even a cloak mode, but sadly all that is rather useless for the gameplay and the story: it's all ending too fast leaving you with nothing interesting to do. You won't have the time nor will it be necessary to upgrade to a big ship to succeed, the story in the game will end much sooner, a major flaw IMO.
Hint: Delay the last mission with the Aliens, so the game remains more interesting :haha:
The game cannot be modded or expanded to anything (at least on PC).

Maybe they will learn the lesson for the next game...galaxy on fire 3?
