To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Just called up http://spacesimcentral.com/ to see if there was a post about the release of Oolite v1.76, when I found that the site has been hacked!
On further checking, the forum still seems to be here, its just the index page thats been taken over.

What the heck is going on? Do we have a space sim hater out there? Go hack the tax office or something else 🙄

But I didn't have any internet for the past 4-5 days because I was moving to a new home and learned of the hack this morning from c0mas 🙂 (thanks btw) after checking my email from work. I logged into the ftp and did a search via time stamp on files changed since my move and found new files at root (index.php was changed) which was why the homepage was messed up and then found some in the downloads directory of SSC's file manager.
Guess the hacker did me a service and letting me know of a flaw. I think I have corrected this for now, but in some sick way I feel honored that someone spent the time to hack SSC. I guess we are starting to become a popular community 🙂 As far as I could tell nothing else was effected but the re-routing of the homepage. But please keep your eyes out and if you spot some pages that are messed up please let me know.
I was sorry to see this... the Oolite forum was hacked last new year's eve, by a similar bunch of jerks.
