I've recently put up a free space battle game for the iPad (Quasar Phase : Space Battle).

It's basically a real time strategy battle for two people on the same device.

It follows a model similar to the old game 'Rescue Raiders' from the Apple II.

Here's the download link:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/quasar-phase-space-battle/id757183886?mt=8

And here's a purposefully cheezy trailer

If you get a chance to play it, let me know what you think.

Deepak

This latest video is from a new game which should be up on the app store in a week or so.

And it has music and sfx!  We're waiting to see what kind of feedback we get on gameplay before we start a port.

I have an idea of the game with this most recent video you posted (which a lot better with sound btw) but could you describe the game and the goal?

Looks something similar to Blue Libra.

Thanks for mentioning Blue Libra - i'm downloading 1 and 2 now.

It looks like Quasar Phase is more arcade style than Blue Libra (which probably has a deeper strategic aspect).

To win a game in Quasar Phase you have to destroy all of the enemy bases.

You start off with one base and you can launch fighters or play battle cards from that base.

Once you take over a 2nd base, you can jump back and forth between the two.

If you lose your first base it's ok.  There's no central base.  As long as you have at least one alive, you're good to go.

The battle decks (like a deck of playing cards)  add the variation to game play.

You get 3 cards at a time, and you can only play one of them.

After you play it, the 3 get put into a discard pile and then you get the next 3.

Once your deck is empty, the discard pile is flipped over and you start again.

The cards are things like, shoot a mega base laser, launch a battlestar, convert all enemy fighters to your side, etc.

Some of the cards are one-time use.

There are defensive cards too - ie build up shields or base cannons.

They're a bit similar to the 'Special' I used in the earlier Quasar Phase .

You pick a Battle Deck before the game begins.

You could have all the players use a copy of the same deck, or each could choose their own.

The video above was a Deck that had mostly Fighter related cards. (So you can't launch battlestars, destroyers, etc)

But you can make your fighters stronger, launch them faster, or upgrade to launch more than one at a time.
