So I finally got a VR goggles for the PS4, AWESOME is about the best description I can say about using it in NMS. Had to start the game again and have not got very far as I keep dying as I'm too busy looking at something. I would say that the console VR version does have a couple if issues with pop ups now and again and a rather annoying blur or tunnel vision effect when you move.

Way to go pinback!! Some suggestions:

You can connect your PSVR to PC, with this driver:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/992490/iVRy_Driver_for_SteamVR/

It's by no way perfect, but it's an added value to PSVR. I was able to test successfully X-Rebirth VR, and DCS World. (Although be careful with the latter. I had a bout of nausea, as I was flying a Su-25. Simulation to the extreme!!!!!)

You may consider buying a PS4 VR Aim controller  https://www.playstation.com/en-us/explore/accessories/playstation-vr-aim-controller/ . Although it is supported by a handful of games, its awesome. (And I also intend to try it, with NMS!!) I skipped buying a PS4 Move, and bought that instead. Do you a have an Ps4 or a Ps4 Pro?

I have a PS4 pro.

Nice one CaptianKal as I did not know about the Steam driver, have been watching a vid about connecting the PSVR to a PC and using a some software called Trinus, but the one on Steam seems a better way to go.

I will post that vid below and check his YouTube channel as he as number of vid on getting PCVR games to work with PSVR, including one on ED. Not thought about getting an aim controller.

I could not get Trinus to work, so I switched to iVRy instead!!! But this channel has some useful tips for PSVR and PC!!

Congrats Pinback, I have yet to take the leap into VR ... Maybe because I didn't think the game titles warranted the upgrade. I have heard NMS and Elite look nice in VR. My daughter brought over her Oculus to show me, its the one that doesn't need a PC to run. But I played with it for like 30mins standing up and listening to the kids laugh at me .... but I had a fun time but I did feel weird afterwards, so i think I could probably do better with one I am sitting down to use. Plus I doubt you could do long play sessions with the headsets because to me after 30-60mins I would probably need to take the headset off just because its not the most comfortable thing to game with.

I'm the same as I'm good for about 30 minutes in it before I need to take it off, have been buying some 3D blu-rays as you can use the headset to view them, but not sure if I last 2hours with it on.

I updated the PC version of the game but I find I can't get back into it now that I have experienced the VR version of the game, found the option which turned that annoying tunnel effect off and another option which's measures you  eye to eye distance which should help with the blur but as I'm on a hot planet, I'm not sure if made any difference.

I do want to get the PlayStation motion controllers as it seems the best way to play the game but can't find them anywhere and I'm not paying the rip off prices being asked for on eBay or Amazon, did you try the aim controller in NMS yet CaptainKal?.

Thanks for sharing, very nice to get the feedback from "trusted sources" 🙂
The comfort issue is a big one I'm afraid 😐

I'm in just complete awe of the scale in the VR game, I said before that flat game seem to lack any real height on the planets but when you stand on the edge of a cliff and look down, you really get the feeling of being high up. 😎

Nearly freaked out when I set down on one of the bigger landing pads and a NPC walked straight through me. 😀

Haha, VR sounds fun with NMS... I will admit I didn't pick this up this past Xmas sale but its definitely on my wishlist. And with your great experiences with VR playing it I just might have to buy one of those soon to experience it.

I'm definitely thinking about buying one for the PC in maybe 18 months or so, but in the meantime I'm pretty happy with the PSVR.

Well, I had free time yesterday, and I tried NMS with VR Aim Controller. Unfortunately NMS is not compatible with it. I thought I could use it as a common controller, but I doesn't work at all. On the other hand, I still find NMS VR too blurry for my taste. Back to the PC version. And this time I will try to use a joystick for the flying bits!!!!

Going to try the PC version as I have bought that driver you mentioned and have downloaded Steam VR but have not tried it out with the PSVR yet, as I think Steam VR needs to be configured the first time you use it.

I see that they have a VR version of Borderlands 2 and it's a shame that the aim controller did not work with it, as it would have been perfect for that game.

I played the PC VR version, with PS4VR and the latest drivers. It's MUCH better than the PS4 version. No blurry at all, even though the resolution is lower. I think this game is a showcase for higher end vr setups like Steam Index. But I really liked it. I also used a gamepad and a swiveling chair!!!!!

Nice one with the swivel chair 😎 but I think if I tried it I would be sick as a parrot 😆 but I must give this a go at some point as looks like they are never going to do anything to upgrade the PS4 version of the game.

PlayStation NMSVR got an update to the resolution, but only for the PS5 and apparently it's has some bugs.

I finally been able to some motion controllers, just waiting for them to charge up.

UPDATE I had a go with them and this going to be a lot harder than you would think, going to be a bit of a relearning how to control the game.

I tried a little VR when my daughter brought over hers like last year and omg was it sometimes frustrating picking stuff up and using things in the game I was playing. And since NMS is really all about building and using things I hope the controls are more refined and not frustrating.

It may just be getting used to using them but they do feel a bit clunky and that may be down to the fact that Sony just repurposed them for use with the VR head set.
