Does this seem too expensive?

I mean, I know Freespace 2 is a great game and all. But $189.95 seems a bit much.

Depends on whether you really have to have "physical" disks or not. They're both available from good old games for 5.99 each so even although I have actual disks, I bought them there so I don't have to hunt down my disks all the time. Also, I noticed that there are some used copies there for right around 50.00 or so after shipping so that might be an option as well. I personally would get the GOG.com copies as at least it shows that people are still interested in them, supports a DRM free way of acquiring software that is becoming increasingly rare these days and since not a dime more gets to Volition or Interplay by buying the expensive physical copies the only reason for getting them that way would be if you were to leave them sealed as collector's items.

Sorry for lengthy 1st post, but FS2 is still my favorite game of all time the writing, voice acting and gameplay really hold up well. (Especially with the latest enhancements from the SCP!)

Yeah SCP does really expand FS2 a lot and worth revisiting the game when you use it. The high price is probably a rare collectors edition that is unopened. Which would mean it is over 10years old so is highly collectible.

Really? Freespace 2 is 10 years old now? I actually had no idea it was that old. That sure explains a lot. 😀

Flappy (welcome to the SSC from me too! 🙂 ) mentioned GOG, here is the website link listing for it's simulation games, both Freespace games are there http://www.gog.com/en/search/sort/genre/simulation

Update: could resist the temptation and bought both FS games. Oh no! When am I ever going to get the time to play them! 😮

Nuts to that price,if you are looking for the game with a box and manual, look on E-Bay,you should be able to pick

one up for under twenty or less.
