To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

@ Geraldine, just an fyi <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> JohnJ actually coded the original Pioneer ships. As far as I know, Tom asked John to make them <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Like the Sirius Interdictor (as you mentioned) Flowerfairy trader, Ladybird, the Walrus ect ect.

Quote:
i've make a slightly variation on the model caribou , and think remame this one to "Panther clipper" because for me it seem really like the old panther of Frontier .

so in this case we must put "David Braben" as modeler ? <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

The Caribou used to be called the Panther Clipper, then I renamed it to the Panther Trader, intending to make another version which would be the Panther Clipper. Then when that didn't happen, someone renamed it to the Caribou.

And btw, I made the Caribou/Panther as my first model in Blender <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Thats why it sucks <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Thanks for that s2odan <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//good.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':good:' /> , I wasn't sure if JJ had been involved from the very beginning with Tomm.

i'm fairly certain that with each mod i have uploaded there is a read me listing the persons who contributed to that mod as best i knew at the time. also in each read me is the location of the authors txt so that all pioneer developers are covered in case of any mistakes, this also covers the original released basic ships which were then modified by gernot.

and if there is not, there will be after the sub models and overwriting lua's have been removed and the models reuploaded.

Thanks s2odan for the correction on the Ladybird. I didn't make the model. I just put the textures on it and had some suggestions about improving her performance. That thing couldn't even lift off from Earth from a rough landing and in combat it would just sit there. A police ship indeed. Come to think of it, I used to see a lot more pirates back in the days before she got her improved thrusters. Do you think maybe... <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//unsure.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Here's the ground stations in mod format. I've tried to follow the proper naming conventions, but feel free to rename it if you wish.

Hello,

First of all, this is great stuff! I had no idea there was so much models out there, to be honest.

It would be a really good idea to specify the license. In the mainline dev repository, the code is licensed under the GPL-3+ license whereas the art assets are under CC-BY-SA v3. There's a whole mess of more-or-less open/free licenses out there, and I am sure our host would appreciate a clear stand-point on this, especially the redistributability stuff.

That's a good point laarmen. You reminded me that I forgot to put in the credits for the textures I used. Thanks, I just fixed that. My contribution is free to use for any purpose, but it would be nice if you gave me credit for it. I don't know what license that would be because I always fall asleep while trying to read them. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//wink3.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

OMG, this is post number 666 for me! (the devil made me say that.) <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//diablo.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Speaking of the devil, Gernot made a mod of Vlastan's buildings that I really like. It re-sizes the windows to the proper scale. I renamed it to match the naming conventions as I understand them.

@laarmen, welcome to the jungle. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//hi.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hi:' /> What you see is just the tip of the iceberg.

I was poking around your fork, and saw the work with Equipment, and EquipSet. Got something actualized?

@Marcel, I think you forgot something inside the zip. Some things left over. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

You mean the .ds_store files? I didn't know what those were until now. I just renamed Gernot's mod and posted it. Thanks! We have a saying around here. 'The Devil's in the details'. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_twisted.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Oh, and btw, I fixed it.

Then noticed that I left out the Mod Read Me.txt file and fixed it again. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_rolleyes.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

In Buildings-GroundStations-Pioneer-a24-Marcel.zip

There is a folder "stations" duplicate outside of the folder "models" Anyway, it works ok. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//drinks.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':drinks:' />

The mod gernot on vlastan is very good. They have "the touch" p66 <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//clapping.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':clapping:' />

OK to DS_Store, are everywhere. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//big_boss.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':codemafia:' />

<img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//unsure.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> That's odd, I can't find it anywhere, not even in the original file. I just downloaded the one I re-posted and it's not in there now. Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I agree, p66 was great. I miss him. I just wanted to make sure that everyone had the opportunity to use this mod.

I thought you knew. He told me he stopped working on Pioneer because of creative differences and personality conflicts. I'm hoping he'll change his mind but he hasn't posted anything since. That's why the efforts to keep his models viable is so welcome.

I am very sorry to hear that Marcel <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//sad.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I too hope he changes his mind as the place is not the same without him. Even if he doesn't want to make anymore models, I will miss his posts.

Come back Gernot, even if it's only to say HI every now and then!!

Sorry for the late reply, I can setup automatic posting to a certain forum area for downloads/mods that are added to Pioneer. Currently the whole Pioneer download area is a mod/file repository so all of the files upload here would show up there. If we would like to make a bit more organized I would need to make another category (probably called 'Pioneer Mods') and have all mod files moved to it and keep Pioneer folder for Pioneer builds, utilities, and various other things that are needed. Now Potsmoke also had a download area where he stored his mods in the Pioneer area that he asked for is that what MetaMartian is doing is converting them and keeping them current? If so I can just rename this folder and move or delete what is needed.

But if everything works right I would create a sub-forum for Pioneer called Pioneer Mods and just tell the download manager that any new files (old files shouldn't get re-posted) added to the download area would have a post created for it, so anything that you put in the description and screenshots should show up in the post that is created. I can create something for you in a few minutes if you wanted to try it out to see if you like the way it works. What should be nice about the posts is that as long as there is some thought to the title name it should be easy to navigate and links back to the download area to the file is provided in the post.

Just let me know and I can work on getting this in place for you, and advise on any possible cleanup of the download area, because unused files take space and should be removed if out dated or not usable by current build of Pioneer.

Hello DarkOne. We are still adjusting some things.

I want to see this draft model readme.txt (to include to the MODs) and correct it as you see fit. Probably will have, also, language errors.

If anyone has a better idea, please add, delete, or correct.
