So I have been exploring the forums a little and discovered this section!
so to contribute to it here are some of my works
most relevant to you guys is an old work in progress (WIP) as I unfortunately never got around to finishing it, its as accurate to the actual show (thus far) as possible using many views, there are some inconsistencies throughout the show itself and I would like to eventually make those variations too.
another of my works was a sci-fi space station interior.
For those of you less sci-fi orientated (probably not many of you here :P)
A vehicle this time, the criticism I got for this is the wheels are too clean 😛
So thats my past work and WIP's
and this is what I am currently working on, Colonisation: Moonbase a PC game with the forums for it hosted here! http://spacesimcentral.com/ssc/forum/82-colonisation-moonbase/
Very nice 😎 which 3d prog are you using and are you using textures or materials or both?.
Currently using an old-ish 3ds max and photoshop.
and I am using both textures and shaders in UDK and Unity3D
These look pretty cool!
What was that bunker for? Just practice or was it used for something?
Liking the moon base stuff too. The terrain map is neat.
The bunker was a university module, in a way practice yeh, the assignment was similar to that of art challenges.
Hey SJones,
would you mind to tell what's the average polycount on your colonisation models and do you actually get that close to them ingame?
Hi Yankee
To answer your question they can vary a fair bit, from 200 tri's to 3,000 tri's (2 tri's = 1 polygon in most modeling packages) the larger structures that won't be built as much use more, on average they are around 1,000 tris though
You can get that close if you would like, though most of the time you will be playing a fair bit further away, with that in mind they were intended for mobile phones and tablets rather than PC, the visuals have not changed much to the move to PC.
The terrain currently sits at 28,000 tri's, this has been made higher for PC and was around 12,000 when it was on mobile.
