I remember this one being a hit
Bit of Angry Anderson (singer with Aussie band Rose Tattoo) (also appeared in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome)
Nice song from the early 90's
... but it turns out it was actually this song
which borrowed the intro from this song
Time for a cryin' song...
Oolite Naval Attaché
Rod Stewart (who knew a good song when he heard one) did a good cover of that. He covered this Tim Hardin song too...
Oolite Naval Attaché
One of the first Rod Stewart songs I can remember was his version of I Don't Want To Talk About It, when it was a hit. (There is another one of his songs from that time that I can't quite recall but I will look for).
One of our jam group members is a bit of a Rod Stewart fan and performs Reason to Believe from time to time. I find it difficult to play for some reason. I only heard the song for the first time a few years ago, even though I think it was a double A side with Maggie May or possibly the actual A side with Maggie May as the B side.
I can remember this one in the charts
This is the song that I can remember some of the lyric but never knew the song title - don't remember the Gilmour-ish guitar solos.
Currently playing chez Cody...
Zappa liked it so much, he got the two singers (Kaylan and Volman) into The Mothers of Invention and that song into their playlist.
Oolite Naval Attaché
Talking of The Mothers...

I have a sheet of paper near me which tells me that the chords for The Turtles song are E minor, D, C and B7. This is because one of our jammers likes to sing it at our jam sessions.
This is supposedly one of Frank Zappa's favourite guitar riffs
Saw Dweezil Zappa once (late 90s I think) - he can play!
Oolite Naval Attaché
Reminds me of this one
Written by Shel Silverstein... as was this:
Oolite Naval Attaché
Always thought Johnny Cash had written it. Looked him up on Wiki - seems he also wrote 'The Ballad of Lucy Jordan' which sounds quite good today but I don't think I particularly liked back when it was in the charts.
This is a song that I am currently learning to play - I am not sure what the person who chose to try to sing this was thinking.
Saw a Frank Zappa documentary the other day. A song called 'Trouble Comin' Every Day' was mentioned (got them a record deal apparently). Don't remember hearing it before but it is as good a Zappa song as I have heard.
One hell of an album, was Freak Out! But my favourite Zappa album is probably Apostrophe'...
Oolite Naval Attaché
Only know Cosmik Debris from that album. Think I alreday posted the song on here.
Had a bit of a discussion the other day about whether Blockbuster by the Sweet is the same riff as Jean Genie by David Bowie (music plagiarism has been in the news lately). I can't tell, and there are differing opinions on how to play the Sweet riff.
