That's a really nice thing to do (I don't understand a word though), but there's an easier translation system coming in A13 (in a week or so) -- you'll only need to add a new text file Polish.txt.

Dude, GizmoR! You translated all the Lua files!

The translation system requires the translation of the following file:

Simply name it Polski.txt, translate it, put it into the data/lang folder of a recent Pioneer (such as the new alpha, or any of the nightly builds) and the game will make it available immediately.

Unfortunately, Lua file translation isn't automatic yet, but please do keep all of the work that you've done so far, because we'll have a mechanism for that soon. In fact, if you like, you can join the dev discussion of that here: https://github.com/pioneerspacesim/pioneer/issues/347

Anybody else who wishes to translate Pioneer, the same thing applies. Do tell people if you make a start, though! It would be a shame to have duplicated effort, when the work could be split.

Probably the best way to work on a translation is to clone Pioneer on Github, copy the file for translation, and commit it back to a new branch on your clone named for your target language. Others can collaborate on that with you, and you can open up a pull request at any time to get feedback from the devs and, once it's finished, to get it included in the game.

If anybody needs a hand with the technicalities there, you can find us on IRC where we can help out in real time (see the sticky thread for info).

GIzmoR, powiem Ci tak: doceniam wkład pracy, jaką włożyłeś w tłumaczenie, ale jestem zawodowym tłumaczem, (co prawda nie angielskiego, a niemieckiego) i niestety, ale to tłumaczenie już z przedstawionych zrzutów wymaga poprawy. Tłumaczysz zbyt dosłownie i to widać. Sam popatrz:

OSH:

"Roda Węgla" - Carbon Ore. There might be no such thing, but this is used in the English version as a catch-all term for coal and oils. Translating it as "coal" would be adding your own interpretation to it.

Likewise, "Animal meat" is a disambiguation from "Synthetic meat." The latter appears to have been removed from the game, but what's important is that the translation is actually correct. If in doubt, always refer to the English language file.

Brianetta, you have right with animal meat, I've forgot, there is a syntehtic meat in game. But Roda (or correctly(Ruda) wegla - no. I disagree. I haven't heard about such thing in Polish. Only "Wegiel" as fossile fuel.

There's no such thing as Carbon Ore in English, either. It's made up. It exists in Pioneer.

Ruda węgla, no no no : ) Its not, that it just only not exist, it looks very badly. Węgiel kamienny - ok, węgiel brunatny - ok, węgiel kopalny - lets say ok.

Witam OSH. Nie jestem zawodowym tłumaczem, a moja znajomość angielskiego

pozostawia wiele do życzenia, po raz pierwszy cokolwiek spolszczam,

wiem że moje tłumaczenie nie jest jeszcze doskonałe, ale myślę że mam

jeszcze trochÄ™ czasu na jego dopracowanie, Pioneer jest w wersji alfa.

W niektórych miejscach z powodu braku „weny twórczej” zostawiłem tłumaczenie

uproszczone i mam zamiar się tym zająć w wolnej chwili.

Dziękuje za twoje uwagi, są bardzo pomocne.

Jednak nie w każdym miejscu się s Tobą zgadzam :

na razie zmieniam na węgiel a potem się zobaczy.

Use UTF-8 as the encoding of your file. If the font used in the game does not have the Polish glyphs that you require, please create a new issue on the issue tracker and the devs will find a way to get them included.
